Tennessee/Alabama/Georgia Dressage and Eventing Association

News and Events--

Hi All,

I know you must be wondering why there has not been any activity with our club recently. Due to personal reasons, I let the ball drop in the Spring, but hoping to make up for it the rest of the year. I wanted to let you know we have attempted to have a board meeting in May, but did not have enough members to vote or make decisions. We did however discuss opportunities and events I have already started working on. I discussed with the board meetings my vision for the club of keeping the activities mostly educational with clinicians who are specialized ie Stephanie Mosely, an accredited Mary Wanless instructor in their field and keep our unmounted meetings with same type of information. I have reached out to some of you who have not rejoined and understand life gets in the way and there are just so many places you can allocate your horse budget. I hope you will reconsider TAGDEA in your budget. Below is a list of activities and meetings we are working on. TAGDEA members will have the first opportunity to participate and then nonmembers. Some of these clinics do have limited numbers allowed. We have moved our annual Fall show to December 8th due to a conflict at Tri State. I have Stephanie Mosley coming back to judge and do a clinic the day after as last time. We will need volunteers for it, so please keep this on your calendar. So here goes:

July 20th at Tri State 7:00 pm- Larry Mitchell of the UTK extension Service will be coming to talk about types of hay, nutritional values and what types of local hay is grown here. I would like to have a brief general meeting before if possible starting at 6. Anyone volunteering for the July 29th Tri State Benefit Show, please stay for a little while afterwards to discuss last minute details.

August week of 21st place tba- Fallsafe clinic with Keli Warrington. This clinic teaches riders how to fall safely using gymnastics and a mechanical horse. It is a 2-day clinic and the cost to members is $325.00 and is limited to 20 participants. Auditors are welcomed. Lori Hayward has said we could use her farm which has a small covered area to do the tumbling and set up the horse and a studio where we could eat lunch. I need to know how many of you are interested in this and get the ball rolling.

September- Date tba- Ride-A-Test at Heatherfield. This is geared for our younger riders of the club, but is open to all members. It is a way to get your inexperienced horses/rider off the farm and get feedback. Judge tba

October-date and location tba- Horse Owner’s Massage clinic- Amanda Moretz has offered to do a horse owners clinic to teach us how to massage our horses. TAGDEA members cost is $150.00 and is limited to 10. Auditors are welcomed.

November- date tba, Heatherfield. Microchipping opportunity for your horse. Dr. White has agreed to come to Heatherfield and microchip horses. USEF already requires horses to be microchipped for hunter and jumpers and I believe the Dressage community is following suit.

December 8th & 9th  TAGDEA Schooling Dressage and C/T with Stephanie Mosely

Other clinics I am working on are:

  • Bitting clinic with Neue Schule bits and am contact with them to figure out a date.
  • Feed and Nutritional clinic with Triple Crown
  • Riding on the Levels symposium
  • Laura Graves Clinic- earliest would be 2019 as she is booked already for 2018

We will need volunteers for a nominating committee for elections this fall. If you are willing to be on it, please let me know. Again, I apologize for the past few months.
